Legion Meter is a digital multimeter for USB charging. It has OLED display to show us the power in Watts our USB port is delivering to our devices, the current in Amps and the voltage. This tiny device started as a Kickstarter project back in June 2014 and I am one of its supporter. Actually I already received this unit few weeks ago, but haven’t got time to review it.
First, Legion Meter is small, which is good, so we can carry it anywhere. Next it’s very simple to use. Just attach it to our USB charging cable and power source (can be a computer or wall charger). The display will immediately turn on and show the voltage. We can press the one and only button there to choose the information to display (Voltage, Amps, Watts, milliwatt-hours and charge accelerator mode).
The Voltage, Amps and Watts information simply shows the amount of energy currently passing through our USB cable. We can use this to measure the electricity that our device draws, or the capability of our USB port in supplying energy. The milliwatt-hours is a useful indicator to measure the real capacity of a battery. This could be our device’s internal battery, or our external powerbanks. When the unit is displaying charge accelerator mode, we can press and hold the button to choose between Apple or Android mode. Lastly, there is a small switch on the device with indicators A and D. A means we choose to activate “accelerator mode”, which will allow Legion Meter to charge our device faster but will block data transfer. D means “data”, which will allow data sync using the USB cable.
My unit works perfectly. The display is bright and easy to read. I guess I like this product overall.
So why would anyone need this accessory? Well, to be honest the most common reason to have this is probably more about “want” rather than “need”. However, I personally need this device to check on some new power-banks and other stuff that I buy, so this multimeter could be very useful for my future reviews.
