sony-wireless-headphones-mdr-10rbt-1Thanks to December’s discount frenzy, I got my hand on these amazing headphones from Boxing Day sale.

Sony MDR-10RBT is a wireless headphones with Bluetooth technology. It supports SBC, AAC and aptX codec for superior wireless streaming quality. It is compatible with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP profiles. According to Sony, one full charge will provide enough juice for 17 hours of music. It also comes with 40mm driver unit and NFC support.

Sony MDR-10RBT is a foldable headphones. A carrying pouch is included for easy traveling experience. A micro USB cable is also included for charging, along with a standard male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable to use this headphones without its Bluetooth function. Yes, we can opt to use Sony MDR-10RBT as wired headphones and it won’t drain any battery when we use it wired. I like the idea of having both wireless headphones and wired headphones as one device.

On the left unit, I can see micro USB port for charging, power button, a LED indicator, a small hole for mic and 3.5mm audio plug to use this headphones with cable. On the right unit there’s a play/pause button that can slide to back and front for music playback control (next and prev). There’s another button for adjusting the volume. I find the button placement is quite decent and reasonably intuitive.

sony-wireless-headphones-mdr-10rbt-2Pairing this headphones with an Mac computer was easy. There are three sound quality modes: standard, priority on sound quality and priority on stable connection. The default setting is on standard and I find it quite decent. Changing into sound quality mode does improve the sound detail, but I must stay very close to my desk or it will lose the connection.

Sound quality is one of the best I have tested so far. The mid and high are clear and detailed. The bass is there, but not overwhelming. Overall sound impression is a nice and natural sound, enjoyable for long listening duration, but kinda lack of impact. Sound isolation is not perfect, but it’s not bad either. I can still hear some loud noises outside when my music was not too loud. At my usual music volume, the music does not leak to the person next to me.

These headphones can also function to make and receive phone calls. I tried connecting it with my iPhone and everything went smooth.

On my first test, I tried this headphones for about 2 hours and it felt very comfortable. It’s not too tight so we can wear it for longer period without tiring our head. After using it for few days, this headphones quickly become my favorite.
