Most Apple Pencil users would agree that this sleek stylus need a carrying case. For starter, its cap is so easy to lose because the magnetic connection is not strong enough to withstand daily activities, at least in my case. Furthermore, that tiny connector for charging is another small piece of accessory waiting to disappear somewhere. Yes, I know we can charge Apple Pencil by plugging it in our iPad, but really? Most sane person would agree that putting 18cm stylus at the bottom of 10+ inches tablet is not the best user experience.

Back in September last year, I decided to get a case for my Apple Pencil. My choice went to Belkin Case + Stand for Apple Pencil, which I had reviewed separately.

Willgoo Apple Pencil Case with Powerbank is an interesting twist to Belkin’s design. This case features white case with black cap using magnetic cover. Inside the case, we can put our Apple Pencil, the cap, the charging connector and one spare tip. This case has built-in powerbank with 1700 mAh capacity. Not the biggest powerbank capacity out there, but it might be useful since we don’t need to carry it as another separate accessory. If we already use it for our Apple Pencil, we automatically get simple powerbank along with it.

There is a 13cm micro-USB cable included in the case, which I find as interesting choice because I can’t use the included cable to charge my Apple Pencil. I understand that the makers of this product probably include the cable to allow the powerbank to be recharged, but I think that’s not the most common use case that is going to happen. This case could be far more useful if it would allow users to charge the Apple Pencil they carry using the included cable.

The overall design of Willgoo Apple Pencil Case is sleek and simple. It’s hard to avoid direct comparison with Belkin’s case because they share many similarities. Willgoo’s case weighs slightly more than Belkin’s (127 gr vs. 116 gr), which is quite understandable because of the additional feature of a powerbank. The magnetic cover is surprisingly lightweight, but not to the point of causing worry. The white case colour looks noticeably yellowish compared to Belkin’s case that looks really white. Willgoo gets plus points for the included powerbank and short micro-USB cable. Belkin gets plus point for the case to double as stand and inside the case has sliding cover to protect the tiny charging connector and extra cap from falling.

If you haven’t bought any case for your Apple Pencil and currently in the market for one, Willgoo Apple Pencil with Powerbank is a strong candidate to consider. You can get it from Amazon using this link. If you already have a case, I don’t think it’s worth to jump to this one just for the powerbank.
