Just few days ago I reviewed Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for iPad. Two days ago I came across this new iPad keyboard from Belkin. It was an unplanned purchase. I was waiting for a friend who arrived late, decided to kill time checking out some gadget stuff and found this. Just like my Logitech keyboard for iPad, this version from Belkin is also using Bluetooth and also flexible with basically any kind of iPhone/iPad model and size.

Belkin YourType Keyboard + Stand for iPad is not an iPad case. It’s an independent Bluetooth keyboard unit with some custom keys dedicated for Mac and iPad. When not used, we can close the keyboard using its cover, giving it proper protection when we carry it inside our bag. When used, we open the cover and the cover acts as a stand for the iPad.

There’s a solid clicking mechanism when we close the cover. I carry this keyboard in my bag will less worry compared to the Logitech version.

There are special keys on the keyboard, including home button, screen keyboard show/hide, search, select all, select left, select right, copy, cut, paste, play/pause, prev, next, mute, volume up, volume down and slideshow. For Mac, we have the usual Control, Alt/Option and Command keys. If needed, the back of this keyboard can be raised for different typing angle.

I have tried the keyboard stand with full-sized iPad, iPad mini and iPad Air. All works fine. You might want to be a bit careful when touching the iPad scren though, the “stand” made from the keyboard cover is plastic and feels a bit flexible. Not sure whether it’s a good or bad thing.

Overall, the keyboard build somehow does not feel as solid as my Logitech keyboard. But this Belkin keyboard is a lot lighter, with still decent quality and more compact traveling size. So I think I will use this one more often.
