Creating line chart in Microsoft Word is easy. Anyone with decent skill in using Microsoft Office should be able to do this. However, when we have incomplete data and somehow still need to create a line chart, Microsoft Word will simply not displaying anything on the missing data. The result could appear as this chart:

microsoft-word-line-chart-1

How do we force Microsoft Word to produce unbroken line chart? How do we get a line chart with interpolation data instead of skipping the missing data entirely? Something that looks like this:

microsoft-word-line-chart-2

The trick is easy. Instead of leaving the incomplete data as empty cells, typing #N/A will tell Microsoft Office to produce interpolation data on the chart. Notice that the interpolation data in fourth column does not show value marking. Of course this should be done only in certain situation where having interpolated data makes sense.
