Some people say the only use of Internet Explorer is for us to download better browser. Well, this is not entirely true because we can actually download Mozilla Firefox without using Internet Explorer. I’m talking about Windows OS here, so Linux and Mac are out of topic.
Here’s a simple trick to download Mozilla Firefox browser without Internet Explorer at all.
1. Open Windows Explorer.
2. Type ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US/ in the address bar.
3. You will see the installer file of the latest version of Firefox browser. Copy the file to your local storage and use it to install your new browser.
That’s it ! Very simple and easy. This tip was tested in Windows 8.1 and worked without any problem. After getting Firefox installed, you can download Chrome, Opera or other browsers that you like. All without involving IE at all.
I tried FTP from the RUN command ( without IE, Win7) and it said it couldn’t find server:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US/
I am a techie dummie. I still have DELL, XP. I am a writer and know the old Word program and don’t want to learn a new one. Of course IE isn’t working. I downloaded Chrome which comes up for my email but on my homepage it says Google but not Chrome.
Your steps look simple but “copy to my storage” can I do it? At 74 I look great but guess I am outdated also.
