google-maps-ipadGood news for iPad owners. Earlier today, Google updated its official Google Maps iOS app to version 2.0 with support for iPad. I have tried it myself and so far things are looking good. Maps are loading fast, no noticeable glitch.

Other than iPad support, this new update also highlight other improvements such as live traffic updates, incident reports and the long awaited indoor maps. I haven’t got the chance to test this indoor map feature just yet. Hopefully Google has indoor data for major locations in Australia. If they do, I’m going to use this new feature a lot.

Though not mentioned as “What’s New”, I notice there’s a menu to display Public Transport routes there. I’m not sure if this is new, or I was just not paying attention all these time, or it was there but didn’t work for Australia locations. It certainly works now.

Update: the hidden feature of saving map into office cache also works for iOS app, just type “Ok maps” in the search bar when viewing maps of certain location and it will be saved for offline use.
