Dyson Cyclone V10 is a practical cordless vacuum cleaner suitable for busy households. It is lightweight and comfortable to hold, with impressive power to clean our low-pile carpet and rugs. It is not cheap, but now I can understand how Dyson became one of the leading brands in vacuum cleaners.

I had my eyes on V8 for quite some time, but could justify the spending. When my old Electrolux Ergorapido stick vacuum cleaner showed signs of weak battery, I knew it was time to try something new. After comparing prices from a few retailers hoping for a good sale price, I found Cyclone V10 on sale, at the price that I almost paid for a V8.

When my V10 arrived, I excitedly did a test. I vacuumed my home office room (with carpet) using my old Electrolux Ergorapido. A full proper vacuum. Right after that, I cleaned it again using V10. Theoretically, I just cleaned the room, so I should not expect V10 to pick up much. To my surprise, I got V10 bin filled to around 70% from one single room, right after my old vacuum cleaner finished its job. This little experiment quickly convinced me that the investment I just made was a successful one.

Different models of V10 comes with different sets of cleaning heads. The model I bought was a basic model that came with the standard motorbar cleaner head, crevice tool, combination tool and hair screw tool. It also comes with a charger and wall mount. Since I am not comfortable to drill a hole on my wall to put the charging dock, I decided to get a stand. A quick search on eBay got me a good stand with some slots to put in some cleaner heads to swap as needed.

The standard motorbar cleaner head is very useful for floor and carpet. Basically, any wide area. I am impressed with how quickly I get a job done using this cleaning head. Combination tool can be used to clean car interior, but I mostly use it to clean the sofa.

There are 3 power option, low, high and turbo. Low is good enough for light cleaning. After a few experiments I just leave it on the high setting because turbo power seems to drain battery fairly quickly and I do not need such power for everyday cleaning. Yes it takes a bit of time to get used to the new habit of pressing the trigger while vacuuming, but it turned out to be not too cumbersome because cleaning process is done faster using Dyson V10.

My least favourite part of using any vacuum cleaner is cleaning the bin. Just like most other Dyson vacuum cleaners, V10 comes with a bin designed for “point and shoot” emptying process without getting messy. This was a big selling point for me, and boy, I quite enjoy it so far. I love emptying my vacuum bin without getting my hands dirty.

Another thing I like from getting Dyson is the fact that almost every part of it can be replaced, including the battery. It was quite hard to find any part of my old vacuum cleaners. Knowing that I can replace most things, I hope my investment would last longer.

Really good cordless vacuum cleaner. Quite expensive even after sale. However, I am quite happy with this purchase and would recommend this product.
