Not all chargers are created equal. From using almost every generation of iPhone, I never had the need to charge with any special charger capable of pumping faster energy. Now that I use LG V20 as my secondary phone, I need a quick charger because charging with normal charger takes forever. When I had my V20 battery completely empty, I couldn’t use my phone even when charging until it has at least around 10% battery. It kept showing annoying pop up messages about low battery. Furthermore, I noticed as I used the phone while charging it, the battery percentage actually drops. With normal charger, the speed of charging is slower than the speed of battery usage. That calls for special charger supporting Quick Charge 3.0
The first thing I noticed when researching for quick charger is the fact that not many products has AU plug options. Sure I can use converter, but I much preferred getting product actually designed for Australia. Also, I quickly realised that quick chargers are expensive, at least the ones from reputable brands.
After some readings, my choice goes to Sony Quick Charger UCH12W. This charger supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology and MediaTek Pump Express Plus. Quick Charge 3.0 is backward compatible with Quick Charge 2.0. We can also use this charger to charge devices without any support of quick charging. It will simply provide energy at the normal speed instead of the optimised speed.
As a nice bonus, Sony UCH12W is bundled with 1 Sony micro-USB cable and 1 Sony USB-C cable. The retail price is expensive, but we can get better bargain from some sellers. Of course we need to know which sellers we can trust to get genuine products.
My simple test showed this charger works as expected. My LG V20 charges significantly faster, and the charging unit doesn’t get too warm in the process. I like the fact that the included cables have Sony branding on them, making it easier for me to tell.
Sony Quick Charger UCH12W is a good product from reputable brand. Happy with this purchase.
