retina-display

I have implemented some modules / scripts to make this website compatible with Retina Display / HiDPI standard. It means, if you visit this website from a computer using Retina Display or HiDPI, you will be able to see much better pictures.

Some of the pictures in older posts (but not all) were automatically updated to the new standard if I have the original source in higher resolution (2x), otherwise, it will remain on standard resolution. New posts will use double quality images whenever possible.

HiDPI is a technology which allow digital display in super small pixel size, smaller than what our human eyes can differentiate. These super small pixels build a very smooth images compared to the “standard” display. Retina Display is a name created by Apple for their version of HiDPI. All iPhones starting from iPhone 4, all iPads from iPad 3 and Macbook Pro with Retina Display use this technology.

While all texts in websites will automatically look good in Retina Display screens, images sometime look pixelated. To provide compatibility, webmasters must prepare those images in higher resolution (2x width and 2x height) and install some scripts to make it readable by computers using this display technology.

Retina Display optimized

Have a look at a small comparison above. Both images will look the same in normal screen. But the Retina Display optimized image will look better in computers with Retina Display or HiDPI screen technology.
